AMPLIFIED 2015 | Philippians 4:13 I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose--I am self-sufficient in Christ's sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.] |
Bible Question:
I feel that God wants me to lead a Bible study in my highschool's Bible Club. (Which I attend.) I have been taking notes on Phillipians 4:13. It's one of my favorite verses. I would love for someone to help me make some good notes on the verse. (Maybe even verses that are along the same lines. Those would help too.) I would really like to go in depth with this verse. If you can provide any help at all I would greatly appreciate it. Please reply or (even better) e-mail me at smilejesuslovesyou07@yahoo.com Thanks! And God Bless! |
Bible Answer: Greetings Sweetie4Him, Philippians 4:13 "I am able to do all things through Him who strengthens me." [Holman Christian Standard Bible] Here is some commentary that I hope helps! "4:13 all things. Everything pleasing to God. Hi who strengthens me. Christ. Union with the living, exalted Christ is the secret of being content (v.12) and the source of Paul's abiding strength (see especially 2 Cor. 12:9-10; see also John 15:5; Eph. 3:16-17; Col. 1:11)." (1) "4:10-13 DISCIPLESHIP, Enabling Power- Discipleship does not depend on our situation. Material resources do not provide the power a disciple needs. Only Christ can provide the strength needed to do everything God wants done. Paul was able to face all kinds of circumstances with contentment because he expected Christ to provide the strength required. Such strong faith qualifies a disciple for big and difficult tasks." (2) "4:13 I can do all things. Paul uses a Gr. verb that means "to be strong" or "to have strength" (cf. Acts 19:16,20; James 5:16). He had strength to withstand "all things" (vv. 11,12), including both difficulty and prosperity in the material world. through Christ who strengthens me. The Gr. word for strengthen means "to put power in." Because believers are in Christ (Gal. 2:20), He infuses them with His strength to sustain them until they receive some provision (Eph. 3:16-20; 2 Cor. 12:10)."
