Bible Question: What is "this attitude" that believers are to have? Please reference your response with scripture. |
Bible Answer: Hi Mommapbs, I look forward to discussing with you these things of Philippians with you. In the past I have have compared Philippians 3:15 with Ephesians 3:9. We have the idea of things that God will reveal and things that will be brought to light. The "attitude" that believers are to have is indicated in the verses that follow in chapter 4 of Philippians. In verse 2 it says that we are to live in harmony in the Lord, NASB, or to be "be of the same mind", NKJ. In verse 5 it says, "Let your forbearing *spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near." NASB. In the NKJ it reads, "Let your gentleness be known to all men." In my Interlinear the word is translated "reasonableness". So the attitude we are to have is one of gentleness, forbearing spirit, reasonableness, being of one mind in the Lord. Ephesians 3:16, "that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that **Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith;..." Philippians 4:5, "Let your forbearing spirit be known to all men. The **Lord is near." 1) The love of **Christ surpassses knowledge. Ephesians 3:19 The peace of **God surpasses all comprehension or mind. Philippians 4:7 Philippians 3:7,8, "But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish in order that I may gain **Christ,..."
