NASB | Philippians 2:7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Philippians 2:7 but emptied Himself [without renouncing or diminishing His deity, but only temporarily giving up the outward expression of divine equality and His rightful dignity] by assuming the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men [He became completely human but was without sin, being fully God and fully man]. |
Bible Question:
Had Jesus been God's begotten son, he would be have been equal to him in strength. Jesus was taken for investigation, insulted, beaten, whipped, mocked and crucified without defending himself or being defend by his Father, as the gospels narrate! Not one of Jesus' followers or disciples defended him! The gospels depict a picture of Jesus as the weakest human who ever lived on earth! His mockers said to Jesus, "If thou be the son of God, come down from the cross,"(Matt.27:40). Their challenge was justifiable. Of course, he failed to meet the fefiance! In his weakest wakness, he could not meet the minimal requirements of being God's son! |
Bible Answer: to add to what meusing said: Matthew 26:52-54 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be? |
