Bible Question: 1 Cor 12:3 tells us that "no one can say,'Jesus is Lord,' except by the Holy Spirit." How does this relate to Phil 2:11; Romans 10:9? |
Bible Answer: Mommapbs, Paul is teaching here in 1 Cor on the proper use of the gifts of the Holy Spirit in public worship. Verse 3 here is telling us that when we are speaking by the Spirit of God we never call Jesus accursed and that the Holy Spirit always recognizes and points to the Lordship of Jesus. Phil 2:11 says SHOULD confess (I am reading from the KJV). Man is the only thing God has created that still may choose not to bow to the name of Jesus. (But all men will bow either in this world or the world to come) So every tongue WILL confess. Everything else, demons, powers of darkness, sickness, calamity, infirmity, poverty, etc. everything must bow now in this world to the authority in the name of Jesus. Rom. 10:9 This is how we receive any of our covenant promises. We must believe in the completed work of Jesus that He accomplished through His death and resurrection. Then we must make a confession of that belief. Note: The meaning of the word translated as salvation means to be delivered, healed, protected, preserved. To be made whole. |
