Bible Question: If when we die as christians we go to heaven, then what does the scripture mean when it says at the rapture the dead in christ shall rise first. If we are already in heaven why do we need to rise to meet the Lord. |
Bible Answer: muffie- When the rapture occurs, we will not all be dead. The sisters and brothers who have died in the past will have their bodies transformed and leave the graves to join with their souls. Then those who are alive will also join the Lord (their bodies transformed in the process I believe). The Lord created us to have bodies, along with our souls, and I believe He intends for us to have bodies as a complete being, just as Jesus does now, only transformed as His is. Those who are dead and died "in Christ" are with Him, only not their bodies. At the judgement seat of God, rewards will be given. If you read throughout Paul's letters, he talks of crowns. There is the soul-winners' crown, etc. I think these are the rewards that are given and the judgements that are given to those who have been covered by the Blood. Their sins will not be seen for they are not there. Those who have not accepted Jesus will be judged according to God's standard of righteousness, and of course, without the covering of Jesus' blood will be found guilty. Debbie |
