Bible Question:
Dear Forum Family, Blessed be the name of the Lord our God and His Son Jesus Christ forever more! Praise the Lord for His love and mercy and grace! Praise the Lord for He is good to His children! Praise the Lord for His patience with His children! Let everything that has breath praise the name of the Lord! Praise Him from the mountain tops! Praise Him from the valleys! praise Him! It's been quite a while since I've visited. Without going into any long details, I have been very busy! I have a question for those of you who are my elders and my brothers and my sisters on this forum (I pray that those of you whom I consider my elders or Brothers or Sisters know who you are.) Here it is. Even though this body I have been given is in great shape (I spend at least ten hours per week excercising it and the doctor tells me "I wish all of my patients were in as good of shape as your are, except for....."), there exists a cuouple of malfunctions. Sparing you all of the details, I was taken from my office to the emergency room on Wednesday morning. Woops! Got so caught up in all of that, I almost almost strayed away from posting my question! WHY SEEK HEALING FOR THIS BODY? Please, please don't get me wrong. I get annual physicals and that on my own, it is not required for my permenant illnesses. And, I do always go to my physician when having problems. When I read the holy word of the Lord my God I so desire to be with Him in His kingdom! Again, don't misunderstand me please, I haven't gone off my rocker, not yet anyway. Why seek healing for this flesh that will not inherit the kingdom of God? I know that the Lord our God has blessed us with some very good doctors, but, I'm having difficulty understanding the purpose. Honestly, it seems sometimes that the closer I am to death, the happier I am because I will be with the Lord forever. Again, I'm NOT CRAZY! Never the less, If here (on earth) is where His desire is for me, then here I am happy to be. Blessed be the Lord forever! I posted a couple of scriptures below. Please I pray you my friends, help me understand through the word of the Lord our God. I am thankful for each one of you! Bless you as you prayerfully consider your answer(s) to me. Your input is very important to me on this issue. Col 3:1 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Phil 1:23 But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; I always pray for you my friends. Always your brother in Christ Jesus our Lord, David (Cyclist) I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |
Bible Answer: Good morning David!! When I read the title to your post, I thought you had taken ill and I was gearing up to share/remind you of scriputures dealing with healing (personal favorites of mine! :-) ) but then when I read your post... Sometimes (when depression tries to assualt me) I too wonder, why stay here in a world that seems to be getting worse and worse when there is something better - being with Christ... But then I sometimes feel like I am being selfish. After all, the Greater One lives in me and I am more than a conqueror thru Him that loves me and I am an overcomer. So no matter how dark it gets here, we are to let our light so shine before men that they may see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven... You quote Paul's desire to depart. But he also said it was more needful for the Phillippians that he stay... Likewise, I am sure that your 'abiding' here with us is more needful for those you touch with the love of God :)... Another reason to seek healing for our flesh is because our bodies are His temple... as we take proper care of our bodies, we are taking proper care of His temple... I know you will bless the Lord at all times... I will join you... Your Sister Meredith |
