Bible Question: One of God's commandments is not to make any idol of anything in heaven above, on earth, or in the oceans below. So why are churches adorned with crosses with Jesus nailed to them? What about the fact we wear crosses as jewelry? I understand they make us think of Jesus and God, but is this in conflict with God's commandment? |
Bible Answer: Hello chynna, You wanted to know if having jewelry such as crosses or an image of Jesus was in conflict of God's commandment. As with anything that we do, say or think God is looking at our hearts. I can't speak for others but for myself I can honestly say I don't worship those 'things' whether they be cross necklaces or earrings or a cross on a church building. If you made them to set up as an image to pay homage, worship or pray to, then that is breaking the commandment. The heart motive behind it is the important thing. Blessings of wisdom and knowledge to you Chynna. Hugger |
