Bible Question (short): Levi - No regard for his parents |
Question (full): Greetings; Was wondering whether in fact this is Moses or Aaron here speaking of Levi. If so Levi seems to be disrepectful, turning aside from his parents and brother and children as well. Again it would appear that he is being praised for taking such a "hard" line againest his earthy family to be free to exclusivly focus on the task of guarding over God's word and covenant. What is exactly his stance here against his family? Is one to take from this as another example of the sugggestion that the reverence and devotion we usually have for our kin , it is recommended that we give up and in turn invest all of it in God? I get the same message from Luke 9:59-62. I am exploring scripture to better understand God's view of the dilemma of serving one's earthly family vs. the family of God which are usually two different groups, as in my case they are no believers in my family of origin. Many thanks ...... In Christ |
