NASB | Ephesians 6:4 ¶ Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ephesians 6:4 ¶ Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger [do not exasperate them to the point of resentment with demands that are trivial or unreasonable or humiliating or abusive; nor by showing favoritism or indifference to any of them], but bring them up [tenderly, with lovingkindness] in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. |
Bible Question: Is 2cor6:1 refering to getting saved or taking advantage of Grace like in Romans6:1 |
Bible Answer: 2 corinthians 2:6-9 Paul is refering to the congregational rebuke of a brother. Paul says it is time to frogive and comfort him so that he is not overcome with sorrow. I believe it speaks the same message as Ephesians 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Rebuke or chastening is not to ounish, but to teach, but there are some who long after the matter should be done continue to inflict with words of rejection until the 'lesson' learned is one of frustrated anger, bitterness, hopelessness. God bless |
