AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ephesians 5:33 However, each man among you [without exception] is to love his wife as his very own self [with behavior worthy of respect and esteem, always seeking the best for her with an attitude of lovingkindness], and the wife [must see to it] that she respects and delights in her husband [that she notices him and prefers him and treats him with loving concern, treasuring him, honoring him, and holding him dear]. Bible Question: What bible verses contain advice about fighting fairly in a marriage? With words and advice such as anger, quarrel, wrath ect. Please help me with some answers Thanks |
Bible Answer: There is no such thing as a fair fight. If you going to fight, you are fighting to win. As others have pointed out, the Bible teaches to love and to 'turn the other cheek'. Not always an easy thing to do. Proverbs even tells us we are supposed to be nice to our enemies. Pr 25:21 If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. Pr 25:22 In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the LORD will reward you. Speaking from experience, just because you win the fight, doesn't mean you feel any better. I've tried to go from worrying about winning the fight, to working on making my wife happy. Oddly enough, the fights have all but disappeared and we are BOTH much happier. Brad |
