Bible Note: Thomas8, Sorry for not getting back to you quicker on this but I wanted to give this some thought before making my response to this. AA and rehab gave me the tools I needed to get clean but it wasn't till I became a disciple of Jesus Christ that I stated getting a handle on the sober part. This is where the majority of rehab and treatment programs fall short. When Jesus Christ became Lord and savior of my life that the sober part started comming into focus. Without Jesus in the equation there is no hope of recovery. Jeremiah 29:11ff comes to mind here where it tells us that if we seek God with all our heart we will find him. This has never been truer than for the addict and alcoholic. It's been said that allot of us were born that way or all the negetive influences that contribute to alcoholism or addiction, but the bottom line is we got drunk or high because we wanted too, myself included. With God as part of the solution there is hope for all. It's when God gets Xed out of things that we have no hope. Recovery is a daily thing as is our walk with God. God answers all prayer, it just may not be in the way we expect. In Him, lionheart |
