Subject: what is the scripture Paul quotes here? |
Bible Note: Greeting Tim - I know that this is an old post, but as I read this I thought about Jesus praying in the garden (Mt 26:45-6) and asking His disciples to "keep watch." Yet what did they do but fall asleep! Notice how Jesus tells them to "get up"! Also when He was transfigured - Now Peter and his companions had been overcome with sleep; but when they were fully awake, they saw His glory . . . Luke 9:32. Possibly this is what Paul was referencing. My purpose in coming to this verse is to challenge believers to discern the days in which we live; to recognize the spiritual battle that rages all around us and to remind them that we must engage the enemy - and not slumber on . . . (certainly he has been on the prowl here lately!) Blessings to you and yours, t |
