Bible Question: In this verse, EPH 4:7, it talks about the grace God gave each of us according to a measure. Could you elaborate on this verse. What does this certain measure mean? Different belief in the Word? |
Bible Answer: Hi, fwiaskycap... Grace can be defined, in one sense, as God's goodness shown to those who deserve only His punishment. All real Christians are recipients of God's grace, both in salvation and in everything that is needful for a life of holiness. His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us to His own glory and excellence. (2 Peter 1:3 ESV) From the passage you've cited (Ephesians 4:7), we are again told that grace originates outside of us, not within us, but is a gift. Christ Himself has purchased this grace, obtaining it by His own merits (verse 8). The same amount of grace is not bestowed upon everyone. But sufficient grace is granted to each believer in order for them to live a life as they ought. The grace originates in Christ, purchased by Him, and what He has gained by His own merits. These endowments of grace are not all the same for everyone. Grace is also dispensed to various believers for the ministry of the church as a whole (see verses 11 and 12). In Him, Doc |
