Bible Question:
I found this site and thought it would be great to get another point of view. Ephesians 4:7 says "Yet grace (God's unmerited favor) was given to each of us individually [not indiscriminately, but in different ways] in proportion to the measure of Christ's [rich and bounteous] gift. " and then Eph 4:11 And His gifts were [varied; He Himself appointed and gave men to us] some to be apostles (special messengers), some prophets (inspired preachers and expounders), some evangelists (preachers of the Gospel, traveling missionaries), some pastors (shepherds of His flock) and teachers. We picked these verses the other day and were wondering how someone else would interpret them. I thought we got these gift from the Spirit, in verse 7 it says "in proportion to the measure of Christ's [rich and bounteous] gift" Some people I have discussed this with say only the spirit gives gifts. Bible Answer: Scripture ... Psa 68:18; Eph 4:7 - context (vv 3-16) ... While in the Psalm, the preposition is "from", the gifts mentioned are from Christ and it all fits ... just look at the emphasis of Christ in this passage. |
