Bible Question:
Please advise me the following: 1. Is it right to go by faith when we hear Gods voice and follow it or how do we actually discern a revealation received how do we go about it. And how should we strive to reach into a stage of spiritual maturity? |
Bible Answer: Greetings Effie! Is there anything in particular that is holding you back? Proverbs 9:1-6 helps to show us a 'sure' road to maturity, and John 6:60-69 helps to teach us the depths of spiritual Truth. We have been given freedom from the mastery of sin (Romans 6:14), and we learn what pleases the Lord (Ephesians 5:10) by dwelling on the "bread" (the Word of God), that gives sustenance, or food, to our spiritual life (1 Cor. 3:1-2; Heb. 5:11,14; 6:1-3; 1 Peter 2:2-3). If we are willing to be accepted, even as a fool (2 Cor. 11:16-19), then we are showing signs that we are no longer children (1 Cor. 13:11,13; 14:20; Eph. 4:14), but becoming mature Christians (Eph. 4:13). You must forget the past and press on forward, right now, toward the goal (Phil. 3:12-16), willing to wade deep into the lake, rather than to stay moored at the harbor, and afraid to venture out. Once you have finally launched out completely and permanently towards Christ without any hope or care of returning, then you will begin to grow in grace (2 Peter 3:8), learning to remain calm in all situations (2 Tim. 4:5), to listen before you speak (James 1:19), to be motivated to the Christian life-style (1 Thess. 4:11-12), and to be able to stand firm at the end of any struggle or circumstance! (Eph. 6:13; Phil. 1:27-30) The mature in Christ (Col. 4:12) are those who are filled with the knowledge of God's will (Col. 1:9-12), who are strong and blameless in their walk (1 Thess. 3:13), and who continue to grow in faith and in love (2 Thess. 1:3). They live Godly lives (2 Peter 1:2,3) and are strong, firm, and steadfast (1 Peter 5:10) in the faith. They share their weaknesses with each other (James 5:16) and have their spiritual needs fulfilled in Christ! (Col. 1:15-23) But before you can begin to show the marks of Christian maturity (Col. 1:3-8) and be able to discern good from evil (Heb. 5:11-14), you must be willing to venture out into the great deeps of God, without any reservations or looking back! Blessings to you, Makarios |
