AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ephesians 4:11 And [His gifts to the church were varied and] He Himself appointed some as apostles [special messengers, representatives], some as prophets [who speak a new message from God to the people], some as evangelists [who spread the good news of salvation], and some as pastors and teachers [to shepherd and guide and instruct], |
Bible Question:
In Ephesians 4:14 Do you see Apostlic Order as God' government in the earth. That is a safeguard against being tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine. The government of God brings unity into the Body of Christ and ensures that all speak the same thing, and are pressing toward the same mark of perfection. Give more insight on this function of the 5-fold ministry. |
Bible Answer: Scripture ... Eph 4:11-16 ... In verse 11 we see the apostles, prophets, evangelists, and pastors-teachers were men Christ gifted (vs 8), Since there are no apostles today, based on the criteria (Acts 1:21-22), this list may be not for today ... tho the other three do exist in some churches. Their role wasn't to do all the work in the church, but to train (equip) saints who do the work (vs 12a). The result is building up of the body of Christ; so there is unity of the faith and knowledge of the Son of God ... maturity and unity (vv 12b-16). |
