Bible Question: What is a prisoner of the Lord? |
Bible Answer: Paul was in prison in Rome when writing this Epistle. He was imprisoned for the Lord's cause, something that he was not ashamed of. What we see as being shameful and disgraceful, to be imprisoned, Paul considered the highest honor since he was imprisoned for God Himself, or for speaking the truths of God. Paul previously mentioned in Ephesians 3:1 that he was a prisoner of Christ. He was a prisoner because he was suffering for Christ’s sake and Christ’s cause. In that he placed the greatest honor, as should we. Keep in mind, while Paul considered his self a prisoner of Christ the Lord, remaining His faithful servant, Christ still cared for and protected him. Paul lived for Christ and Christ owned him. Therefore, Paul was a prisoner in Christ. But nonetheless, a prisoner for us, because it was his bringing God’s word to us for which he was imprisoned. WOS |
