Subject: why do we baptize differently? |
Bible Note: Compudex: Welcome to the Bible Study Forum. Just a note to say that there was baptism in the Old Testament period. When someone converted to Judiasm the were baptized. So baptism is baptism, not circumcision. I believe the men were also required to be circumcised too. I do believe if the latter were required today to become a Christian, perhaps accepting Christ might be a very serious choice to carefully consider, before walking the down to give your heart to Jesus. The group, or groups, who baptise in Jesus name only, would say right up fromt that if you have not been baptized in Jesus name ONLY that you are not saved. This is a very serious flaw, and goes against Matthew 29:19 which specficly says to baptize in the name of the Father, the SON, and the Holy Spirit. I would think perhaps you might not of known about the Name of Jesus Only group. They are very much a denomonation but I wish not to mention denomonations by name as this is what I understand Lockmans wishes. I hope this helps you some. Any responce? Blessings. I add one thing more. I think that when a believe delays being baptized for a good lenght of time, there is a serious question if this person has a said faith or saving faith. Jesus over and over says if we truly love Him we will obey His commands. Did Jesus not say the be Baptized? I think that says it pretty clearly. Not much of a loop hole there. ustme. |
