AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace [God's remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God; |
Subject: Do you have to know Christ? |
Bible Note: I believe you are right and believe what I have said was not written to convey the message clearly. I think what I was saying is that god made a promise though Abraham (the law) and through Jesus (faith). I was trying interpret what I believed the pastor was saying. I do believe that you are saved though faith along, but it is my undrstanding that Jews follow the law, because of a promise God made to Abraham, and that they believe they are saved as long as they follow the law or until their "messiah" comes (although we know he has already come). Is this correct? Galtians 3:6 Consider Abraham: “He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”[a] 7Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham. 8The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: “All nations will be blessed through you.”[b] 9So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. |
