AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace [God's remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. Bible Question: Has anyone on this forum who initially logged on to it believing that salvation is by grace only through faith only in Jesus Christ only been persuaded to change his mind as a result of anything he has read on these pages about baptism and works being necessary for salvation? --Hank |
Bible Answer: Hi Hank, Speaking for myself, there is nothing that could be said on any forum that could pursuade me to believe such a thing. I think David Hunt put it well in his book "An Urgent Call to a Serious Faith" (copyright 2000, published by Harvest House Publishers) "If Christ's death in our place for our sins and His resurrection were not sufficient to keep us saved, then He has foolishly wasted His time. If we could not live a good enough life to earn salvation, it is certain we cannot live a good enough life to keep it. To make the salvation He procured ultimately dependent upon our faltering works would be the utmost folly." As Christians we "continue in His word" because we love Him. Our love for Jesus Christ compels us to obey Him. "This is love, that we walk according to His commandments." (2John 6) If works could cause us to loose our salvation, we would all be doomed. "O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God - through Jesus Christ our Lord!" (Romans 7:24-25) In Christ, Signmanbob |
