AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ephesians 2:8 For it is by grace [God's remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God; |
Bible Question: How can I save myself |
Bible Answer: You cannot save yourself. The Bible says “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)and “The wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). But “God demonstrates His own love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8). Now, who " whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16). God's logic (if I may say so) is that sin separates us from God (Isa. 59:2)and ultimately brings about judgement and death (Eze 18:20). The problem is we're all born sinners (even newborn babies) because of the "mark" of imperfection inherited from Adam (Adam's descendants came after he committed sin). The ONLY way to remove sin and reconnect with God is through blood. After the Fall in Eden, God used blood and reconnected with Adam/Eve (Genesis 3:21)- blood has to be shed to make those clothes. Abel got the revelation of the blood, and animal sacrifices were used throughout pre-christianity until the perfect blood was provided through Jesus Christ. Even if you were to shed your own blood or give your life, that would be useless for the "perfect blood" has already been provided. No effort on your part needed, just FAITH, TRUST and OBEDIENCE.
