Bible Question:
Good Day Everyone, What are the two (2) types of "GRACE"? 2 Words... A know-it-all asked me that and when I said that I didn't know he replied, "Go ask a priest!" and left. I will be praying for him until God takes my resentment. I still would like your feed back. Peace, Wisdom and God's Grace, Dave |
Bible Answer: Hi Dave, There is no direct referrence in the Bible to two different types of grace. There are a number of different "graces" mentioned in the Bible. There is the grace of election, being chosen to God's family. There is the saving grace, being given the cleansing and forgiveness from your sins. There is the grace gifting of supernatural abilities, so that as a child of God you can minister to His other children. There are grace gifts of healings. But when I have heard people teaching about two kinds of grace, it is in referrence to: Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. This has been spoken of as "Common Grace", as God gives rain and sun and breath and such to all men, the just and the unjust. And these things are gifts from God, and are therefore of His grace. Just try to have some on your own! :-) So there seem to be two broad catagories of grace that God gives to us. Material graces common to all men, and spiritual graces given to His children. So I would answer the question, What are the 2 types of grace, as these: Common Grace, and Spiritual Grace. Dave, I hope this helps! Love in Christ, Mark |
