Bible Note: GRACE - much more than unmerited favor... GRACE - charis, Greek 5485, Strong's especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; A more correct definition would be enabling power to fulfill the will of God. Grace can be seen in a believer... as the moon reflects the Sun... Acts 11:23 Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord. The purpose of grace... 2 Cor. 9:8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: Grace is "power"... "Response - Ability" We must be saved by grace... Ephes. 2:7-8 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. Acts 13:43 Now when the congregation was broken up, many of the Jews and religious proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas: who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God. Grace builds the body up... Acts 20:32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified. Grace is given to enable us to be obedient to the faith and be a testimony to the nations for the glory of God ... Romans 1:5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name: Holy communications minister grace (power) Ephes. 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. "make stable" Hebrews 13:9 Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein. Power is given to overcome the lustful nature within... [3] Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. [5] Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? [6] But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. [7] Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. [8] Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. [9] Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. [10] Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. Some use grace to fulfill their lust... Jude 1:4 For certain men whose condemnation was written about long ago have secretly slipped in among you. They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord. |
