Bible Question:
Dear Saints, Greetings and love to all in the name of Jesus! When a person confesses Christ Jesus as Savior, but does not manifest the gifts or fruit of the Holy Spirit, is he (or she) saved? Merry 'Kirisuto ga oumare ni natta oiwai no kisestu!' (Season that we celebrate the birth of Christ) In Christ Jesus, charis |
Bible Answer: Dear Charis, Greetings from Scotland Have another look at the passage, the saints referred to have a conversion experience, they: 1. Heard the word of truth the gospel of salvation 2. They believed it, ie believed the Gospel 3. Having believed they were marked with the sealof the Holy Spirit i.e marked as God's possesion. The seal is a pledge or deposit GUARANTEEING their redemption. In other words they were saved, this pattern has been repeated ever since and is normal conversion. I think the gifts and fruits you mention often come later through the sanctification process, although in special circumstances (like the day of pentecost) God may enable people to use special gifts but only for the edification of the church and his glory not for individuals to "show off". The gifts and work of the the spirit can be a very emotive subject but I hope this has been of some use. May God grant you every blessing in you search for truth and reveal himself to you more and more through his Word. regards Haggisheid Joel 2 27-29 |
