Bible Question: I'm going through tough times with a friend who I care about. He has walked back into a bad relationship because he is scared to be homeless. The woman is very controlling and makes him steal for her and I just was in tears because he just got out of jail from his bad past..I had found out the hard way about this woman ways and I'm not sure whom is trying to talk to me. God or the devil? I tried to start letting things go and I prayed about things because I was so upset..after I cried a little I feel the urge to stand up to this woman somehow and help him. My body is very tired from crying about this poor man and the possible things she could do to him..I guess in short...Is God telling me to help the man out or is it satan talking? |
Bible Answer: hi keelz welcome to the forum. Firstly you must ask your self how sure you are of the facts. What are you basing your judgments on? Secondly you must examine your own motives. Why are you wanting to do this? Is it out of genuine Christian love and a desire to do what Christ would do, or have you an ulterior motive (such as jealousy, or wanting him for yourself)? If it is for Christlike reasons then there is a good chance that God would approve of your seeking to do something. But what? Have you and your friend joint friends? Perhaps you could discuss it with them and see if they agree with you. in these cases two are usually better than one. As Christians we are certainly required to bear one another's burdens. But we must make sure that it is for the right reason. You do not say how you would stand up to the woman. It must be done, at least initially in soft words and in a spirit of love and compassion. Anger and violence rarely works and is not Christlike. You should also remember that it is unwise to interfere between two partners unless it is absolutely necessary. So settle your motives before God in prayer. Then you wil be better able to do something. Best wishes |
