NASB | Galatians 6:1 Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Galatians 6:1 Brothers, if anyone is caught in any sin, you who are spiritual [that is, you who are responsive to the guidance of the Spirit] are to restore such a person in a spirit of gentleness [not with a sense of superiority or self-righteousness], keeping a watchful eye on yourself, so that you are not tempted as well. |
Bible Question: I know that when we sin we can ask to be forgivin, But Is there such a thing as Spiritual Healing? And if there is How do we deal with it? Thanks for your help. |
Bible Answer: Dear Blazer, "Spiritual healing" is a phrase we do not find in the Bible. It is often used in popular preaching in ways that are not strictly Scriptural. However, to be fair, they may mean two possible aspects of the life of the believer: regeneration and progressive sanctification. "Regeneration is the spiritual change wrought in the heart of man by the Holy Spirit in which his/her inherently sinful nature is changed so that he/she can respond to God in Faith, and live in accordance with His will (Matthew 19:28; John 3:3,5,7; Titus 3:5). It extends to the whole nature of man, altering his governing disposition, illuminating his mind, freeing his will, and renewing his nature." --J. I. Packer "Progressive sanctification [is] ... the believer's gradual growth in knowledge and holiness, so that having received legal righteousness in justification, he may now develop personal righteousness in his thought and behavior. (Romans 6:13-14; Hebrews 12:4)" --Vincent Cheung Regeneration and progressive sanctification might be considered "spiritual healing." Although, to do so, would run the risk of departing from language that clearly communicates the message of the Word. In Him, Doc |
