Bible Question: Looking to find the greek meanings of the word sorceries ... I thought that it meant pharmacia but cannot find where it says that. |
Bible Answer: Greetings Meadow! I believe that the word you are looking for is: pharmakeia (Strong's number - 5331) It is used in Gal. 5:20 and Rev. 18:23. Here is what the Bible Knowledge Commentary says about Gal. 5:20: ********************** Witchcraft is the translation of the Greek word pharmakeia from which the term “pharmacy” comes. In ancient times the worship of evil powers was accompanied by the use of drugs to create trances. This vice will also be prominent in the Tribulation period (cf. Rev. 9:21; 18:23). ********************** I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
