Bible Question:
If we have been forgiven our sins by accepting Jesus as our saviour why then is it neccesary to be baptized? Is one saved if not baptized? peter 3:21 |
Bible Answer: Dear Ceebee, Baptism was instituted by Jesus Christ as an ordinance of the church. For the person being baptized its intention is to be a sign of his fellowship with Christ in His death and resurrection. It is an external sign -- a confession to the church and to the world -- of the believer being engrafted into Christ and of the remission of sins. It indicates that the believer has given himself wholly up to God, through Jesus Christ, and that henceforth he may live and conduct himself "in newness of life." (See Mark 1:4; Acts 22:16; Romans 6:3-5; Galatians 3:27; Colossians 2:12.) In Him, Doc |
