AMPLIFIED 2015 | Galatians 3:16 Now the promises [in the covenants] were decreed to Abraham and to his seed. God does not say, "And to seeds (descendants, heirs)," as if [referring] to many [persons], but as to one, "And to your Seed," who is [none other than] Christ. [Gen 13:15; 17:8] |
Subject: Are Jewish people assured salvation? |
Bible Note: Dear justme, I cannot speak to your experience. Our experiences cannot be questioned, they are phenomenological facts. Nevertheless, people do not live by such facts, they live by the interpretation of facts. Humans are lousy fact interpreters -- from our First Parents, down through this day. This is because we were not created to be interpreters, but to be dependent on the interpretation of facts by God (Deuteronomy 8:3; Isaiah 8:20; Matthew 4:4). Consequently I cannot but use the interpretation of the Word for these facts. "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws [Strong's G1670] him; and I will raise him up on the last day." (John 6:44 NASB) And He said to them, "Cast the net on the right-hand side of the boat and you will find a catch." So they cast, and then they were not able to haul [Strong's G1670] it in because of the great number of fish. (John 21:6 NASB) But when her masters saw that their hope of profit was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged [Strong's G1670] them into the market place before the authorities, (Acts 16:19 NASB) But you have dishonored the poor man. Is it not the rich who oppress you and personally drag [Strong's G1670] you into court? (James 2:6 NASB) I was dead in my sins (Ephesians 2:1). The Lord, in His love, made me alive in Christ (v2:5). Dead men do not respond to love, nor may they choose to be made alive. Nor do babies consent to their birth. No, if God had not drug this old Jew to the cross nothing would have availed. I am so glad that He loved me so much that my Lord and King allows anything to stand between Him and His beloved. This is good news, indeed! I am aware that your interpretation of redemption is a common one, taught from many a pulpit around the world. I am bound, however, to know Christ only, and Him crucified. "How different is the God of the Bible from the God of modern Christendom! The conception of Deity which prevails most widely today, even among those who profess to give heed to the Scriptures, is a miserable caricature, a blasphemous travesty of the Truth. The God of the twentieth century is a helpless, effeminate being who commands the respect of no really thoughtful man. The God of the popular mind is the creation of a maudlin sentimentality. The God of many a present-day pulpit is an object of pity rather than of awe-inspiring reverence. To say that God the Father has purposed the salvation of all mankind, that God the Son died with the express intention of saving the whole human race, and that God the Holy Spirit is now seeking to win the world to Christ; when, as a matter of common observation, it is apparent that the great majority of our fellow-men are dying in sin, and passing into a hopeless eternity: is to say that God the Father is disappointed, that God the Son is dissatisfied, and that God the Holy Spirit is defeated. We have stated the issue baldly, but there is no escaping the conclusion. To argue that God is 'trying His best' to save all mankind, but that the majority of men will not let Him save them, is to insist that the will of the Creator is impotent, and that the will of the creature is omnipotent. To throw the blame, as many do, upon the Devil, does not remove the difficulty, for if Satan is defeating the purpose of God, then, Satan is Almighty and God is no longer the Supreme Being." --Arthur W.
