AMPLIFIED 2015 | Galatians 3:13 Christ purchased our freedom and redeemed us from the curse of the Law and its condemnation by becoming a curse for us--for it is written, "CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS [crucified] ON A TREE (cross)"-- [Deut 21:23] |
Bible Question:
How would you explain to someone today why Jesus, who was anointed and blessed by God died under his curse. Deuteronomy 21:23 states that anyone who is hung on a tree is under Gods curse. Please help |
Bible Answer: He (God) made Him (Christ) who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. NASB 2 Corinthians 5:21 "Christ purchased our freedom [redeeming us] from the curse (doom) of the Law [and its condemnation] by [Himself] becoming a curse for us, for it is written [in the Scriptures], Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree (is crucified); [Deut. 21:23.]" Galatians 3:13 AMPLIFIED Galatians 3:10-13 The New Living Translation 10 But those who depend on the law to make them right with God are under his curse, for the Scriptures say, "Cursed is everyone who does not observe and obey all these commands that are written in God's Book of the Law." 11 Consequently, it is clear that no one can ever be right with God by trying to keep the law. For the Scriptures say, "It is through faith that a righteous person has life." 12 How different from this way of faith is the way of law, which says, "If you wish to find life by obeying the law, you must obey all of its commands." 13 But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the Scriptures, "Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree." It has been said: "The Bible is its own best commentary." Also, "The best commentary is a good [clear] translation." NASB 2 Corinthians 5:21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. AMPLIFIED 2 Corinthians 5:21 For our sake He made Christ [virtually] to be sin Who knew no sin, so that in and through Him we might become [endued with, viewed as being in, and examples of] the righteousness of God [what we ought to be, approved and acceptable and in right relationship with Him, by His goodness]. |
