NASB | 2 Corinthians 5:8 we are of good courage, I say, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Corinthians 5:8 we are [as I was saying] of good courage and confident hope, and prefer rather to be absent from the body and to be at home with the Lord. |
Bible Question: Is this verse talking about the 2nd coming when bodies will be risen or when someone dies now they are instantaneously with Jesus |
Bible Answer: Php 1:23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: If Paul felt that his dieing was the same as being with Christ then it seems safest to conclude that our spirit goes instantly to be with Christ. And then consider Christ Himself. We know he descended into the lower parts of the earth before his ascension so if he descended before his resurrection he did so in the spirit. Out spirits are conscience after death and since Christ made the way, we now go to Him whatever that may be called. such as heaven. |
