AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life]. |
Bible Question: is bondage a result of both sin and transference through family lineage |
Bible Answer: The proclivity of sin or bondage to sin often times follows from generation to generation. Just as Adams sin in the garden passed to all men. However we must look at Ezekiel 18:20 (NASB) 20 "The person who sins will die. The son will not bear the punishment for the father's iniquity, nor will the father bear the punishment for the son's iniquity; the righteousness of the righteous will be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked will be upon himself. Further I believe 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NASB) 17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Completely kills the idea that sin or bondage to sin of one generation is carried to the next within a Christian. |
