AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life]. |
Bible Question: I am asking this question for a friend of mine that had come into the church that had previously gotten a sex change operation and they came in and God has changed their life. My question is this, if they were previously a male and changed to a female (and the operation is irreversable) how would they live the rest of their "saved" life? According to Leviticus 20 if they live their life as a woman and get married they would be living in abomination, on the other hand they can't physically go back to being a man. I was asked to ask this question so any help would be appreciated. |
Bible Answer: Hi Acts238, In the Law, if a man was sexually mutilated or misformed, he was barred from the temple. (Lev. 21:17-21) In the New Covenant, we are new creatures, and all is forgiven, and we are accepted in Christ. But then comes the question, as you asked, how then shall we live? The easy answer is "how God intended us to live." 1 Peter 2:25 "For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls." I need to back up a step to look at this correctly. When someone has a surgery to alter their body, they have not "changed sex". Gen 1:27 "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." God created us male and female, and we do not alter how He made us because we have become clever enough to alter our physique. Everything reproduces after it's own kind, and even though someone changes their appearance or functions, they do not change what God made them. This may be a difficult answer to receive, and I pray that the Holy Spirit will do the work that is required. We must repent of our sins, and live a repentant life. Any sinful actions that are currently being engaged in must stop. A man is not to wear a woman's clothing. A man is not to lie with a man as he would a woman. Celebacy may be the best solution to living a Godly life. If drugs are being used for the purpose of continuing in a rebellious lifestyle, they should be discontinued. Obviously a doctor needs to be involved, and I would suggest this person should seek a mature Christian doctor to consult. If the previous surgery is unable to be completely reversed, it can still be partly reversed and combined with male hormones, enabling one to still live as a man, although living with the consequence of prior sin. Many of us live with our consequences, but with the hope of complete restoration and redemption in the age to come. God will make a way, for the person who truly wants to serve Him. Pastoral and medical counselling would be very useful, this web site may also provide some useful material: http://www.realityresources.com/ Perhaps others will have more information for you, meanwhile, I hope this helps. You and yours will be in my prayers. Love in Christ, Mark |
