Subject: Stone or stone? Him or it? |
Bible Note: Hi Daniel, Thank you for the Scripture. In your answer you infer that we can be ashamed of Christ. I can think of no time when people were ashamed of Christ. The Scriptures speak of not being ashamed of the gospel, but can unbelievers or believers be ashamed of Christ? 1 Peter 2:6 speaks of "he who believes shall not be disappointed" [ashamed]. So the being putting to shame would be on us. The one who believes will not be in a hurry, will not be disturbed, will not be disappointed, will not be confounded. I was trying to get a choice from you of "it" or "Him", but now disregarding that choice, let's look at the One who laid in Zion a choice stone, a precious corner-stone. John 2:19, "Jesus answered and said to them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." 20 The Jews therefore said, "It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?" 21 But He was speaking of the temple of His body. 22 When therefore He was raised from the dead, His disciples remembered that **He said this; and they believed the Scripture, and the word which Jesus had spoken." 1 Peter 2:6, "For this is contained in Scripture: 'Behold **I lay in Zion a choice stone, a precious corner stone, And he who believes [in it/Him] shall not be disappointed.'" Would you agree with the above interpretation? From the heart, Ray |
