AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Corinthians 12:7 Because of the surpassing greatness and extraordinary nature of the revelations [which I received from God], for this reason, to keep me from thinking of myself as important, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan, to torment and harass me--to keep me from exalting myself! [Job 2:6] |
Bible Question:
I am struggling with the question of why God allows suffering. I recently read a statement that God does NOT allow suffering, that God is not in control of this world, that Satan is in control and that he gained that control through the fall in Garden of Eden. I understand that it was never God's intention for man to experience suffering, that sin brings suffering and not only to the one who sins but often to innocent victims. For example, if a man chooses to sexually asault his daughter, she will suffer the consequences of his sin. I also understand that sin is not necessarily a single act, when we talk about sin bringing death and suffering we are often referring to sin in the plural. I guess one thing I don't understand is how Adam's sin gave Satan control of this world to Satan. (Adam had dominion over the trees, the animals, etc. I don't see where he ruled the world. Genesis 1:28-30) I am not saying he doesn't - the bible says that Satan is the ruler of this age - but how did Adam's sin give rule of this world to satan when Adam had rule over the fish and birds - not the world. I know I am missing something here - what is it? I need to understand why Satan is allowed to place such a wicked thing as sexual assault in a man's heart and an all powerful God will not stop it. I know it has something to do with choice, God gave man a free will and man can choose to sin and God will not violate that will. (by the way - where exactly is that found or is it just understood by Adams choice to transgress?) |
Bible Answer: But wouldn't this statement you read be in contradiction with this verse: 3 John 1:2 Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers. I believe that Yes, God Allows things in our lives, but it is how we handle those situations. Read about Job... Satan went before God and basically complained. God then ALLOWED satan to do what he wanted, BUT God did tell satan, do what you wish, but don't kill him. Job stayed true to God... Now, we have the new covenant of the Blood of Jesus. Again I remind you that God tells us that satan came to seek us out kill us, destroy us..., but JESUS CAME TO GIVE us LIFE and give it in ABUNDANCE. Look at Jer 29:11 Here God says "For I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to PROSPER you and NOT harm you, plans for a GOOD future." God forgives, God provides, but we are the biggest obsticle we have in the receiving of God's blessings. Remember tho He forgives there are still those that have to suffer the consequences of their actions. God is not a God of Confusion, If a minister preaches confusion I would definately think twice before going back and reading or hearing what they had to say and I would pray for them to preach ONLY the truth thru the Holy Spirit. NOW, AS FAR AS THE OTHER PART OF YOUR QUESTION: Satan does not MAKE us do anything, he just puts the temptation before us. WE then make the choice to go forth with any perverse action... remember, God gave us free choice- that's when our flesh takes over and there it is the beginning of suffering. REBELION, living in an ANTI-christ spirit, (Sin). When Eve took a bite of "sin" through temptation then also Adam became tempted. Adam then made the choice to turn His head from GOD'S WILL. So if you are in rebelion, you are not in God's will... therefore you have separated yourself from purity, from God's perfection. God cannot be in the presence of impurity. So Adam and Eve through sin, chosen sin, separated themselves. Then when we stay in rebelion, (don't repent) then we GIVE satan control. It all comes back to our Free choice. So, sin causes pain, suffering, Repentance causes freedom from that pain, suffering. In order to get out of that suffering, God gave us Jesus. The New Covenant. GOD BLESS YOU!! |
