Bible Question:
Please explain 2nd Corinthians 11:1-22. I need a complete understanding of the Chapter. Is Paul referring to himself or a church?? Thanks |

Bible Answer: Greetings Praise211! Chapter 11 is about both himself and the church. He is using himself as an example to warn the Corinthian church about false teachers. In this part of the chapter Paul is deeply concerned about the Corinthians, whom he loves and admires so much, and their being misled by the false prophets. He apologises twice for his boasting (ver. 1, 16) but feels he must do this in order to silence the false teachers (ver 11,13). Paul acknowledges that boasting is not of the Lord but a desperate situation called for desperate measures. His boasting was not for self-glorifacation, but to counter the false doctrine threatening the Corinthaian Church. The Corinthians had a pure and simple devotion to Christ that was being threatened by false teachers. He did not want them to loose their focus on Christ. The church was falling for smooth talkers that sounded good and seemed to make sense. But the false teachers ended up distorting the truth and preaching another Christ than the one in the bible. Paul bluntly and directly exposed the false teachers for what they were - emissaries of Satan. He warned the Corinthians that they may look good, and sound good but they were not of God. prayon |
