AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 8:1 Now about food sacrificed to idols, we know that we all have knowledge [concerning this]. Knowledge [alone] makes [people self-righteously] arrogant, but love [that unselfishly seeks the best for others] builds up and encourages others to grow [in wisdom]. |
Bible Question:
OK, did you read the link that I posted earlier in my original question?? In this page is a very strong statement: Mat. 4:4… "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by EVERY WORD that proceeds out of the mouth of God." |
Bible Answer: challen, Did you ever receive your answer? Everyone listed the perfect scriptures and understandings for you so I will not go into it any further. I promised I would address that article you mentioned so that is why I am writing. I was going to go over it piece by piece and list all scriptures going against what it says, but that would take forever and a day. If I did, I could wind up publishing this note as a novel! It is more fitting to answer it in a conversational bible study. However, I will give you one example that you can use to dismiss that whole article. That article goes on and on, listing scriptures and it was making me dizzy because it was using many out of the proper context. The main point of that article (from what I gather) is that we should still be following God's Law from the old testament. Here's my example that I will use to say that that is nonsense. Part of God's law was to sacrifice animals for various reasons, mostly for forgiveness of sins. That will no longer be an accepted form of repentance. It is only through Christ that we are forgiven of sins. So the law did change. There are many other examples, but I will just use that one to keep it simple. I have no idea how someone could say that we must still follow the old law. If that's the case, we all need to build altars in our backyard and conduct animal sacrifices or else God will not forgive us of our sins. Do you see my point? God bless, Sal |
