Bible Question: My roomate asked me where in the Bible it says that premarital sex is forbidden. Can anyone give me a passage or verse. Thank you |
Bible Answer: Hi, Yates! There's much in the Bible that does not have the exact expression that we seek... this of course does not mean that it is permissible. In 1 Corinthians 7:1-40 Paul talks extensively about marriage and the single life. He proposes mode of conduct that is based on Christ's teachings and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. He includes God's commandments along with his own counsel: i.e.: 1 Corinthians 7:9-12, 36-38. Christ, of course was very exact when He addressed adultery: we commit sin even if we are just thinking about it!: Matthew 5:28--see also Matthew 5:27-30, 31-32; Matthew 19:3-9. There are more Bible passages that speak on sexual sins (such as Romans 1:28-32), if you like a list attach a note to this thread asking for them and I shall set up a list for you. God Bless! Angel |
