Bible Question: I know that fasting is a time to deny your body of physcial food in order to focus soley on feeding the spirit and seeking God.My question is has Jesus left a command for the husband and wife not to engage in sexual activity during this time and if so where is this found in the bible? |
Bible Answer: I don't recall anything like this that Jesus said. There is a scribal addition about casting out a demon saying this kind only comes out with prayer and fasting. Mark 2:19 And Jesus said to them, "While the bridegroom is with them, the attendants of the bridegroom cannot fast, can they? So long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast. 1 Cor 7:5 Stop depriving one another, except by agreement for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer, and come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control. 1 Sam 21:5 David answered the priest and said to him, "Surely women have been kept from us as previously when I set out and the vessels of the young men were holy, though it was an ordinary journey; how much more then today will their vessels be holy?"
