NASB | 1 Corinthians 7:34 and his interests are divided. The woman who is unmarried, and the virgin, is concerned about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and spirit; but one who is married is concerned about the things of the world, how she may please her husband. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 7:34 and his interests are divided. The unmarried woman or the virgin is concerned about the matters of the Lord, how to be holy and set apart both in body and in spirit; but a married woman is concerned about worldly things, how she may please her husband. |
Bible Question: Need some input on this topic. I am single, so may be you can understand this topic much clearer. "Using my freedom from marital concerns to maximize my ministry in God's service". PLEASE HELP |
Bible Answer: St. paul addresses this issue in 1 Corinthians 25-40, but especially staring on verse 32. Being in the unmarried state allows you to focus in a special way directly on God and sevice to Him and his people. This does not denigrate the married state. It merely acknowleges that a married person serves God primarily in service to family; spouse and children and only secondarily by other service. |
