Bible Question:
I PRAY EVERY DAY THAT GOD WILL SOMEDAY GIFT ME WITH A CHRISTIAN WOMAN TO LOVE THE REST OF MY DAYS. I WONDER IF THE BIBLE SPEAKS ANYTHING ABOUT THINGS OF THIS NATURE. DOES ANYONE KNOW?? |
Bible Answer: Joshua makes a good point in his post... By the way, the fact that you are single does not make you defective or inadequate in any way. Actually, it allows you to accomplish certain things for God that might be difficult if you had a wife that needed your care. So walk obediently as an important member of the body of Christ. That written, if we are walking in the Word, and ever growing in that direction, we are free to seek a wife. Once again, that presuposes that we are doing so in a scripture fashion. The Puritans -- those wonderfully faithful believers that have come and gone before us -- seemed to have a unique grasp on the principles of scripture. I would highly recommend the following links for your study: From sermons by Henry Smith, http://www.patriarchspath.org/Articles/Docs/PuritanCourtship.htm Sermon by Richard Baxter, "The Mutual Duties of Husbands and Wives Towards Each Other." http://www.puritansermons.com/baxter/baxter14.htm If you can apply these principles in a modern context, you will do very well at selecting a Proverbs 31 type wife.
