Bible Question: I am contemplating divorce from my husband who is hindi, I am baptist. This alone is not my grounds for divorce, but he commited adultery within 3 months of marriage and we have never fully lived together in our three years of marriage. I have tried everything to get him to live together, but he insists his job (in another state) is important. It is not a great job either. I found out 7 months after our marriage, he deceived me greatly. He had two different lives. I gave him countless chances to return to make this marriage work and nothing worked. I even offered to move to where he is, but he declined. We tried marriage counseling one time, and he didn't want the counselor to know his adultery. I lost interest a few months ago, shortly after our 3rd year. I simply got tired of begging him to move with me. I filed for divorce and he won't acknowledge it. He says he realizes his mistake and wants to come back. I don't want to try to make this work anymore. Now, he is threatening me and calls me constantly. We have 2 children together. Any suggestions, please. |
Bible Answer: Hello bitsy, You married an unbeliever which presented opportunity for disaster. 2Co 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 2Co 6:15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? 2Co 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 2Co 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, You have biblical grounds for divorce according to your account here. But that doesn't necessarily mean you should divorce. Mat 5:32 But I say to you, any man who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, causes her to commit adultery, and whoever marries a divorced woman commits adultery."
