AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified [that is, he receives the blessings granted] through his [Christian] wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified through her believing husband. Bible Question (short): CAN A WIFE SANTIFY HER HUSBAND? |
Question (full): Bible man, Is there a verse in the Pauline or Catholic Epistles (1 and 2 Timothy or 1 and 2 Peter) that states a wife can sanctify her husband? I would swear on a stack of Bibles that I read it several years ago. In the last couple of weeks I have read the above NT books in a number of versions and it is driving me crazy. (We have a wonderful time with another couple. When we all went to Hawaii, he wanted to go to church on Sunday. At church he sings louder than the three "Christians" but he clearly states he is not a Christian when asked. He is more upright in his money dealings than I, and my wife and I consider ourselves above reproach unitl he mentions a flaw like the use of certain software in certain applications. His behavior is like a Christian, he reads his Bible and knows it quite well, we have discussions on it over dinner. He wants to be around Christians. In Hawaii, he located a church and drove the three Bible college graduates when we went on vacation together, but doesn't want the title. In my 40 years in ministry I've never met such a cunundrum.) |
