AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 6:7 ¶ Why, the very fact that you have lawsuits with one another is already a defeat. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded? |
Bible Question:
yes, i am pretty much agreeing with you here; as I already mentioned this is what I believe is right also - for us to just give up the case and the building, but I was wondering if there was anyone here that may provide a Biblical justification in the other direction - if there is any justification for doing so in the case as explained. As I am not a trustee of the church I really have no say so in the legal matter - I was just wondering if our leaders are justified in anyway for defending themselves and the property. If they are not then what should I as a member do - should I support my leaders or should I pack up my bags and leave. |
Bible Answer: We could try 1 Corinthians 13:5, AMP, and Ephesians 4:1-3: "Love (God's love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]." "Walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace." It seems somebody in this situation is not following this counsel to 'not insist on his own rights' and 'be diligent to preserve unity.' Then again, Jesus did say: "Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with what is my own?" (Matthew 20:15) Maybe its "lawful" for church b to 'do what they wish with what is their own'! However, it could be evidence that these individuals are not spirit-guided, being "self-controlled, holding fast the faithful word"!--Titus 1:5-9; Genesis 13:8. |
