NASB | 1 Corinthians 6:1 Does any one of you, when he has a case against his neighbor, dare to go to law before the unrighteous and not before the saints? |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 6:1 Does any one of you, when he has a complaint (civil dispute) with another [believer], dare to go to law before unrighteous men (non-believers) instead of [placing the issue] before the saints (God's people)? |
Bible Question: Why is it not lawful for me to take a christian to court? |
Bible Answer: Hello nutabug, Paul's point in this section is to point out the obvious. If God will give us the wisdom to judge angelic beings, wouldn't it make sense that he will give us the wisdom to settle human matters? Of course he will. That being the case, don't go to court against your brother for a couple of reasons: 1) you defame the name of Christ in your disunity, and 2) you tell the world that it is a better judge than God himself.
