NASB | 1 Corinthians 5:1 It is actually reported that there is immorality among you, and immorality of such a kind as does not exist even among the Gentiles, that someone has his father's wife. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 5:1 It is actually reported [everywhere] that there is sexual immorality among you, a kind of immorality that is condemned even among the [unbelieving] Gentiles: that someone has [an intimate relationship with] his father's wife. [Deut 22:30; 27:20] |
Bible Question (short): 1 Timothy 1:20 |
Question (full): In 1Timothy 1:20 Paul speaks of "Hymenaeus and Alexander", whom I delivered to Satan that they may learn not to blapheme." The only other reference I have found of these two individuals is in 2 Timothy 2:17-18 and 2 Timothy 4:14. Does anybody know more of the significance of this passage? Also what does Paul mean when he says he delivered them to Satan? The only thing that I might have found is in Acts 13:45 when there was discourse concerning the Gentiles, but I am not sure I am on the right track. |
