NASB | 1 Corinthians 3:16 ¶ Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 3:16 ¶ Do you not know and understand that you [the church] are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells [permanently] in you [collectively and individually]? |
Bible Question: Is there a difference in saying "The Holy Spirit dwells in believers." and "God dwells in believers."? Is the second statement an accurate assessment of the condition of believers? If the second is incorrect, what is the consequense of such a position? |
Bible Answer: Greetings and welcome to the Forum. When posting it would help those who might respond if you would include a Scripture connected to your question. I have included two references for you to consider. We are called the "temple" of God in 1 Cor 3:16. Collectively and individually the presence of God, by His Spirit, dwells within the believer. It is He who makes, equips and enables us for every good work.(Eph 2:10) "However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him." Romans 8:9 In this verse, do you see a difference between the Spirit, the Spirit of God and the Spirit of Christ? They are the same; what is different here? mommapbs |
