NASB | 1 Corinthians 2:14 ¶ But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 1 Corinthians 2:14 ¶ But the natural [unbelieving] man does not accept the things [the teachings and revelations] of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness [absurd and illogical] to him; and he is incapable of understanding them, because they are spiritually discerned and appreciated, [and he is unqualified to judge spiritual matters]. |
Bible Question:
I'm after a specific quotation/verse - Sorry for being vague, but it's something about how human minds/brains are incapable of understanding the true nature of things? Thanks Kev |
Bible Answer: I don't know of anything specific. The reference in 1 Corinthians 2:14 refers to the difference between spiritual and unspiritual. The passage that comes to me is Isaiah 55:8,9 "My thoughts are completely different from yours," says the Lord. "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts." |
