Bible Question:
Yesterday, one of my Sunday school teachers made a statement that I was not comfortable with. She said If we as Christians open our hearts and minds and allow God to dwell within us then the devil cannot enter. She said we must walk with God daily to keep the devil out of our lives. I would submit we must walk with God every second, minute, hour just to live peacefully but none of us are without sin. The devil will lie dormant but I believe he is always there, lurking to seize the moment to cause havoc in our lives. We should be ever mindful and continue to humble ourselves so that God's grace will abound. We cannot be so self-righteous that we think Satan can do no harm. I researched the bible briefly last night and found scripture that reminds us to always keep our focus on God lest we be deceived. Mark 7:14-23 Hebrew 6: 1-6 and a few more I can't remember at this time. I would like your comments regarding both points of view and if possible some biblical text references. Thank you |
Bible Answer: Greetings: using the "quick search" feature, type in this number: 4581 You will find an excellent post that addresses your topic. Also, I have copied a post I wrote a year ago on this subject for you to also consider: We are God's possession! (see also Eph 1:4) Jesus said, "no one can snatch them out of my hand." John10:28 Upon confession of faith in Jesus, the believer is SEALED (Eph 4:30) with the Holy Spirit. Ownership is established (2 Cor 1:22) - we have been BOUGHT with a price - the shed blood of Christ! "Don't you know that your body is the Temple of the Holy Spirit?" (1 Cor. 6:19-20) The Holy Spirit is our deposit upon salvation, guaranteeing the promise of God and His presence IN our life - Christ is IN you, and once He is there, the devil and his demons cannot be! (Yes, they can and do influence believers, but they cannot possess what God has purchased! Praise Him!) Hope this helps assure you that as a believer the Devil has no authority to possess your life! And one day, we will be free from his evil influence forever! Looking to that Day! mommapbs |
