Bible Question: I know there are many stories in the Bible about birth of children, but are there any books in the Bible that refer to a child being born past its' due date to be born? |
Bible Answer: Hi, Antoinette... A child who did not come to term was considered defective or, at least, undesirable. Not in the sense of unwanted, but as something that was not the preferred condition. Of course, it could also refer to an aborted child as the above reference (cf Job 3:16). Children and livestock coming to full term was always considered a blessing from God. Note that these were simply general perceptions of the people in ancient Israel. Children, no matter when they are born, are always a blessing from God (Deuteronomy 28:4). In Him, Doc |
